Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox are a Major League Baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are in the Central Division of the American League.

One of the AL's eight charter franchises, the White Sox dominated play during the early 20th century, winning 5 of the first 19 league pennants; but the team's fortunes dropped precipitously after it became involved in what is debatably the greatest scandal in the history of the sport. After winning only one league championship in the years spanning 1920 to 2004, the team ended decades of frustration in 2005 when it won its first world championship since 1917. The White Sox are one of two major league teams based in Chicago, the other being the Chicago Cubs of the National League.
